It looks like another trip to Haiti is in the planning. I was looking through photos taken during a trip last year and I thought I'd post them. Also there are two organizations in Haiti that I support and certainly recommend them to anyone who would like to lend a hand in the rebuilding and health of Haiti. One, Love a Child, run by Bobby and Sherry Burnette, has and is doing a tremendous job in Haiti, not only in helping with daily food and health needs, but looking forward to sustainability. The link to their organization is at bottom of post. The second, Haiti for Christ, was introduced to me right after the January 10, 2010 earthquake in Haiti. Joel and Yvonne Trimble have lived and worked in Haiti for over 30 years and they were there when the earthquake hit. Immediately they were right in the middle of coordinating and even supplying relief. I heard about them from CNN reports. They film and produce a very popular television show, La Bonne Nouvelle. It is a wonderful show and shows the beauty, foods and people of Haiti. There is a link to their web site at bottom also.
I hope you enjoy these photos and check out the links too!

Books I've read regarding Haiti - check them out if you are interested in Haiti and like to read:
Madison Smartt Bell - (Trilogy on history of Haiti) -
All Souls Rising, Master of The Crossroads, and
The Stone the Builders Refused. (these are rough so be warned. The cruelty of slavery and the revolution is evident in the words, believe me and there is a lot of integration of the Haitians religion brought over from Africa in the storyline )
Edwidge Danticat (her books are written from the perspective of one of the Haitian diaspora) -
The Dew Breaker; Creating Dangerously; Breath, Eyes, Memory; Brother I'm Dying; Krik? Krak!; The Farming of Bones; Claire of the Sea Light - https://www.facebook.com/edwidgedanticat
Jacques Roumain -
Masters of the Dew - This is one of the most powerful books I have ever read. I highly recommend it.
Elsie Augustave -
The Roving Tree -
